Pregnancy rate is the probability of becoming pregnant. The pregnancy rate needs to be stated with a clearly defined numerator and denominator, for example, live birth rate per egg retrieval. Pregnancy rate varies depending on the patient population being treated, types of treatments, stimulation protocols, number of embryos transferred, day of embryo transfer, embryo freezing policies, embryo screening procedures, quality of the medical care, quality of the laboratory, how the pregnancy rate is stated, and other factors. Therefore, it is not possible to simply compare “pregnancy rate” from clinic to clinc.
