NIAW 2024

ARC® Fertility, a highly experienced national provider of innovative fertility and family-forming benefits for self-insured employers and their employees, proudly joins the annual observance of National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW). Founded by RESOLVE in 1989, NIAW is a week- long initiative aimed at raising awareness, dispelling myths, and fostering a supportive community for individuals and couples facing the challenges of infertility.

ARC Fertility is actively contributing to the objectives of NIAW by focusing on improving access to high quality, affordable family-forming solutions, and fostering a workplace that embraces diversity, equity and inclusivity (DEI).

Breaking Down Barriers: Improving Access and Affordability

Infertility affects one in six couples and is a significant, often misunderstood, aspect of reproductive health. ARC Fertility stands as a beacon, advocating for increased awareness and offering tangible solutions to overcome the barriers that individuals and couples face in their family-building journeys. One of the primary goals of NIAW is to provide accurate information, and ARC Fertility is committed to being part of the solution.

ARC Fertility addresses the challenges associated with infertility by improving access to quality care and making fertility treatments more affordable. Through strategic partnerships with top tier member fertility clinics nationwide, ARC Fertility empowers individuals with comprehensive family-forming benefits, covering a range of assisted reproductive technologies and related services. By eliminating per-employee-per-month (PEPM) fees, ARC ensures that employers only pay for the medical care actually received, up to the chosen benefit subsidy amount, enhancing accessibility for a more inclusive workplace.

Supportive Workplace Culture: Nurturing Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity

Creating a workplace culture that values diversity, equity and inclusivity (DEI) is vital for employee well-being. Infertility impacts individuals across different backgrounds, and ARC Fertility recognizes the importance of fostering an environment that acknowledges and supports diverse family-building journeys.

ARC Fertility actively contributes to building a supportive workplace culture by offering family-forming benefits that cater to the unique needs of each individual or couple regardless of background, sexual orientation, gender identity or relationship status.

ARC Fertility’s commitment extends beyond the workplace, reinforcing broader industry benefits. Studies show that organizations with fertility benefits promote diversity and inclusion, provide access to quality and cost-effective care, enhance competitiveness in talent acquisition as well as employee retention, and position themselves as family-friendly employers.

Supporting the Access to Family Building Act: Advocacy for Inclusive Reproductive Healthcare

During this significant observation, ARC Fertility reaffirms its commitment to supporting legislative measures that enhance access to family-building services. ARC Fertility proudly supports the introduction of the Access to Family Building Act by U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (IL), U.S. Senator and Chair of the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations Patty Murray (WA), Representative Susan Wild (PA) and co-sponsorship in the Senate by U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).

This pivotal legislation seeks to protect the right of patients to access necessary medical services for family-building, acknowledging that nearly 2% of all babies born in the U.S. annually owe their existence to Assisted Reproductive Technology.

ARC Fertility will proactively support this legislation that provides federal protection to patient access to these vital services. The bill aligns seamlessly with ARC Fertility’s mission, safeguarding the future of IVF as a transformative and essential family-forming option and ensuring that couples and individuals can access the reproductive medicine care they desire.

To rally support for this cause, ARC Fertility encourages all stakeholders in reproductive care to actively participate in the upcoming Virtual Federal Advocacy Day, May 14, 2024, sponsored by RESOLVE in partnership with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). This event serves as a critical platform for advancing family-building issues, offering opportunities to engage directly with Members of Congress and underscore the importance of access to care. Register here.

Building on a longstanding history of collaboration, ARC Fertility, under the leadership of Dr. Adamson, has played pivotal roles in various advocacy initiatives. Notably, a survey conducted in partnership with RESOLVE and ASRM in 2017 focused on benefits in the realm of fertility care, with the findings presented at ASRM. This underscores ARC Fertility’s commitment to providing valuable insights and unwavering support to advocacy efforts.

Furthermore, ARC Fertility has received recognition from RESOLVE, with Dr. Adamson being honored with the prestigious Barbara Eck Award in 2015 – the highest accolade bestowed by RESOLVE. This award is a testament to Dr. Adamson’s outstanding contributions to the field and his steadfast dedication to advancing the cause of infertility awareness and support. Together, we stand at the forefront of advocating for inclusive reproductive healthcare, ensuring that every individual and couple can pursue their family-building journey with dignity and accessibility.
