Question of the Week
Q) What is Male Infertility, its causes
and symptoms?
A) Male Infertility:
An estimated 10 percent to 15 percent of couples are
classified as infertile, which means that they've been trying to get pregnant
with frequent, unprotected intercourse for at least a year with no success. In
about half the cases, male infertility is a factor.
Causes: Causes of male infertility include abnormal sperm production or function,
impaired delivery of sperm, general health and lifestyle issues, and exposure
to certain environmental factors.
Symptoms: In some cases, hormonal problems may be suspected if a man has
abnormal hair growth, low libido, or other indications of sexual dysfunction.
Risk factors for male infertility include obesity, age current or previous infection
of an STD, smoking, or excessive drinking. Some medications may also impair fertility.
