What Is Infertility and How Can It Be Treated?

Infertility pioneer and founder of Advanced Reproductive Care (ARC) Inc., Dr. David Adamson, is a world-renowned expert in the field and a teacher at Stanford Medical School. A fertility expert for the World Health Organization (WHO), and a practicing board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and surgeon, watch Dr. Adamson discuss the most common treatments for infertility. Some of these include:

  • Infertility medications to treat problems with the ovaries. These can help women with irregular menstrual cycles.
  • Many surgical treatments that can help women with fibroids, endometriosis, or adhesions
  • Treatments for male infertility and why both men and women should see a fertility specialist together

Most cases of infertility can be treated with in-vitro-fertilization (IVF), which is a medical procedure where a specialist fertilizes eggs with sperm in a laboratory. Once embryos form (fertilization happens), the fertility doctor re-implants the embryo into the uterus.

What is secondary infertility?

Dr. Adamson also discusses a condition called secondary infertility, which describes a situation in which a woman has had a previous pregnancy or conceived a child, but is unable to conceive when she tries later one.
