Pavna K. Brahma, MD, joined Reproductive Biology Associates in the fall of 2010 after completing her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Emory University. Originally from Michigan, Dr. Brahma earned her undergraduate degree in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan. She then received her medical degree from The University of Michigan Medical School where she earned the J. Robert Willson award for excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Motivated by her interest in reproductive medicine and women’s health, she completed her four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan Hospitals. During residency, she developed strong clinical and research interests in polycystic ovary syndrome, endocrine pathways, and ovarian aging. Her sincere desire to help couples achieve their dreams of parenthood motivated Dr. Brahma to pursue a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Dr. Brahma moved to Atlanta to complete her three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Emory University. During fellowship, she received excellent clinical training in in-vitro fertilization, minimally invasive surgery, and endocrine disorders. Her research on estrogen receptor function in immune cells earned a Prize Paper Award at the national ASRM meeting in 2009. Dr. Brahma’s fellowship thesis on the regulation of inflammation in adipose tissue won the Basic Science Research Award from the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University. Dr. Brahma has published many book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on topics including insulin signaling, polycystic ovary syndrome, Mullerian anomalies, and premature ovarian failure.
Dr. Brahma’s primary clinical and research interests include polycystic ovary syndrome, diminished ovarian reserve, premature ovarian insufficiency and in-vitro fertilization. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of many medical societies, including The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and The American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Brahma and her husband have two children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, and jogging. Dr. Brahma sees patients at both our Piedmont and Lake Hearn offices.
