Peter McGovern M.D. is the medical director of University Reproductive Associates (URA) as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health and Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School. Dr. McGovern has been in private practice since 1992 and is a board certified physician in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

After attending medical school at New York University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center. He subsequently completed his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. McGovern is a staff physician at Hackensack University Medical Center and Mountainside Hospital.

Dr. McGovern brings years of experience and research to each and every one of his patients. He has published numerous papers and has led University Reproductive Associates’ involvement in multiple research initiatives including the Women’s Health Initiative and the National Institutes of Health sponsored Reproductive Medicine Network, which resulted in a landmark study of the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome and publication in the New England Journal of Medicine. His areas of interest include in-vitro fertilization, polycystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent pregnancy loss, and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. McGovern directs the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Fellowship at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School, which is one of only a handful of training programs in REI in the country. Fellows in training are instructed by Dr. McGovern on both clinical and research topics in endocrinology and infertility. As a medical board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility, he is always up to date on the latest medical developments and has won several awards for both practice and teaching.
