Dr. Abe Halfen graduated with honors from the Central University of Venezuela at Caracas, school of Medicine. He did his internship and residency at the affiliated University Hospital. He then completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (Presbyterian Hospital) in New York City. Following his fellowship he was appointed to the faculty at the State University of New York at Stone Brook where he became Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Halfen is both certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has received teaching awards for outstanding contributions to resident education at Stony Brook and lectured at national and regional meetings.

Dr. Halfen is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and served as President of the Suffolk County Obstetrical and Gynecological Society in 2004.

His areas of expertise includes assisted reproduction, polycystic ovarian disease reproductive failure and menopause.

In addition to English, Dr. Halfen is fluent in Spanish.
