Dr. Walmer’s contributions to the Duke Fertility Center
have been molded by the various roles that he has played during his 23 years
of service at Duke. As a physician scientist, director of the in vitro fertilization
(IVF) program, father of five children, and founder and chairman of a global
health organization called Family Health Ministries, Dr. Walmer has helped the
Duke Fertility Center (DFC) become a center of science, family, and ministry.
Dr. Walmer's interests include preconception counseling, all aspects of assisted
reproduction (including donor sperm, donor oocytes and gestational surrogacy),
making faith-based decisions with regard to assisted reproduction, age-related
decline in fertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome and repetitive pregnancy loss.
