Mika R. Thomas, M.D. is the newest physician to join the practice. She is a Dallas native who obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in the biological sciences from Southern Methodist University where she graduated with distinction. While attending undergraduate school, she was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and was nominated as one of the SMU Decima Chapter of Mortar Board's "Top Ten Sophomores of 1995".
Dr. Thomas went on to attend medical school at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Knowing she wanted to pursue a career in the field of infertility she spent a summer during her medical school training participating in research dedicated to endometriosis. This research resulted in multiple publications as well as cover art in the well-respected journal, Fertility and Sterility. Dr. Thomas was elected a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society during her medical school training.
Following medical school, Dr. Thomas went on to complete her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the very busy Phoenix, Arizona's Maricopa Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital. During her time in Phoenix, Dr. Thomas conducted and presented research on topics including predictors of embryo transfer success rates, IUI preparations, and medical management of miscarriages which resulted in multiple awards.
Dr. Thomas most recently finished a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the well-respected University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. While in her fellowship, she received specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of various causes of infertility including polycystic ovarian syndrome, diminished ovarian reserve, tubal factor and male factor. She has performed numerous assisted reproductive technology (IVF) cycles and she is well-trained in microsurgery.
Dr. Thomas is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (serving as junior fellow section chair and vice-chair while in residency), American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, American Medical Association, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society.
