Elizabeth A. McGee, MD is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and directs a research laboratory in ovarian physiology in the Magee-Women's Research Institute.
As an undergraduate, Dr. McGee was Dean's Honor Scholar at Rhodes College. She graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School where she was a Gooch-Doggett Scholar. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UT Southwestern in the Cecil and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Sciences under the direction of Bruce R Carr, MD. Dr. McGee subsequently completed a fellowship in the Reproductive Scientist Development Program in the laboratory of Aaron Hsueh, PhD at Stanford
University.
Dr. McGee's current research focus is on developing an understanding of the ways in which growth factors can determine whether an ovarian follicle grows and ovulates or dies during its development. She holds the Ortho-McNeil Award for Research in Reproduction and is a Women's Reproductive Health Research Career Development Scholar, funded by the NIH. Her clinical practice generally focuses on treating women with hormonally related disorders, infertility and menopausal disorders.
Dr. McGee is board eligible in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She member of The Society for Gynecologic Investigation, The American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the Society for the Study of Reproduction, and is a junior Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
