Dr. Gerard Letterie is a board certified reproductive endocrinologist with over 20 years of clinical and academic experience. He completed his fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health and served in the United States Army Medical Corps for 12 years.
Dr. Letterie was the medical director of the in vitro fertilization program at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle for the past 13 years.
He is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Physicians.
He is the author of over 125 scientific articles and chapters.
The second edition of his text Surgery, Assisted Reproductive Technology and Infertility is due out in January 2005.
His research interests include protection of reproductive potential among cancer patients, the molecular structure of the hormone FSH as an indicator of ovarian aging and early detection of genetic diseases through preimplantation genetic diagnosis.
Dr. Letterie is an ad hoc editor for several journals including Fertility and Sterility, Human Reproduction, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Washington, Seattle and member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as an examiner. He continues his military affiliation by serving as a consultant at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma WA.
Dr. Letterie was recently selected as one of the areas leading infertility practitioners by the Puget Sound Consumers Guide and is listed in Guide to America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists for 2004-2005 by the Consumers Research Council of America.
Dr. Letterie is happily married and the father of two daughters, Mia (age 9) and Ava (age 3). His wife, Jan, is an enthusiastic rower with Martha's Moms rowing club.
